Friday, 14th November @ 8pm
Cork’s own Chris Kent makes his Saint George's debut- Friday, 14th November @ 8pm with a brand new show ‘Offline’. He tries to give up the internet and navigate life without asking his phone what to eat, where to go or how to get home. He longs for a simpler time of playing ‘Snake’ and constructing emojis himself. Now that he has hit 40 years of age, he wonders if he can ever go back to thinking for himself. Join him on a journey that will either make him or break him.
“He really makes me laugh and I think his stuff is so smart, he would be one of the best comics that I would have seen. He's Fantastic"- Tommy Tiernan
Please note all gigs are over 18’s unless specified.

Beo Faoin bhFód- Buried Alive- The Mick Meaney Documentary premier.
Saint George’s Arts and Heritage Centre will host the world premier of a TG4 documentary on local ‘buried alive’ legend Mick Meaney on Saturday, 15th November @ 8pm.
In 1968, Mick Meaney was buried six feet under the London soil in a simple wooden coffin. Hundreds came to see his burial and toast Mick on his way. The thing was, Mick was not dead. He was competing in the world record competition for ‘Longest Time Spent Buried Alive’.
Incredibly, Ballyporeen native- Mick was not the first. Our story begins in 1920s California and ends with a Dutch nun buried under a fairground in Skegness. Using never before seen archive, animation and interviews with the people who personally knew Mick, this story is brought to life through the eyes of his loving daughter Mary who grapples with her father’s bizarre legacy.
Beo Faoin bhFód is a fun and unique look at a bizarre event, largely forgotten from the history books. This programme uses a combination of previously unseen archive, bespoke animation and first hand accounts to tell the story as if sitting by the fire in a nice warm pub. It’s a yarn told well.
But this documentary is about more than a quirky historical tale, it’s about a father-daughter relationship and the desire to be remembered. There’s an unexpected emotional depth within this story, driven by Mary Meaney’s incredible interview performance. There is a humorous in the film which will broaden its appeal to other audiences beyond a classic documentary audience.
Tickets €5 are available on Eventbrite, local outlets and through the Saint George’s Office on 087-4696913
