We need volunteers to help us be successful
Would you like to help with Saint George's? We need volunteers to help with a wide range of activities such as running events, maintenance work, fundraising, cleaning, painting and polishing. We also need a range of advice relating to lighting, heating, energy conservation and general building conservation. The range of skills we need is very varied. Have you a technical skill that you might be useful to us? Please get in touch.
We intend to heat and power the building using green technologies. All external stonework needs re-pointing and interior walls need re-plastering, decorating and painting. We must refurbish all existing wooden and tiled floors in the nave. We intend to fully restore the organ which is reputed to be one of the oldest in Ireland. Other works will include restoration of the bell, stained-glass windows, timberwork, panelling and doors. The Vestry Room will be converted into a comfortable meeting room. The former schoolroom will be converted into disability toilets. The stairs needs to be restored and painted. We plan to install Irish-made custom-designed comfortable seating which will enhance it’s unique heritage. The changes we envisage will help us provide a sustainable future for a building that we hope will be embraced and cherished by the community.
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Your time, your skill, your expertise, your talent, your ideas, your brainpower, your muscle-power.
Please come on board. It's going to be a lot of craic.
